The industrial valve is a fundamental component with a variety of applications. Starting with its primary function, which is continuous and automatic control, the valve also prevents reverse flow, controls pressure, and provides on-off control.
Because valves have multiple functions, they are divided into several types, determined by their operation, pressure and temperature conditions, fluid type, and actuation method. To help you understand the main types of valves, our team has prepared this content. Check it out:
What are the main types of valves?
- Ball valve: Used in the naval industry, as it is very resistant to corrosion, high pressure and temperatures.
- Butterfly valve: Used for low-pressure gases and liquids. It has a very fast action, is inexpensive, and has a low pressure drop.
- Check valve: Used over a wide range of pressures and temperatures. Its function is to prevent backflow in the pipeline.
- Gate valve: Used over a wide temperature and pressure range. It operates by sliding a disc inside the fluid.
- Globe valve: Regulates flow and provides effective closure in fluids containing suspended solid particles.
- Diaphragm valve: It is used with all types of gases, abrasive and corrosive fluids and in fluids that have high levels of suspended solids.
