There are several types of valves and each one performs an important function in pipelines, boilers, among others. Among those that exist, the ones we find most are:
Check Valve .
Ball Valve .
Globe Valve .
But today we are going to talk specifically about the Gate Valve, how it works and its characteristics.
The Gate Valve
The Gate Valve is used in a variety of situations. It operates by sliding a disc through the fluid flow. The disc actuation is what gave this valve its name. Its actuation is similar to that of a drawer in a cabinet: the disc penetrates the fluid, blocks it, removes it from the flow, and allows it to flow. The Gate Valve works as a shut-off valve and is always in the open or closed position in water or raw liquid systems. If it's fully open, fluid passes through, resulting in a small pressure drop. However, when it's partially open, a large pressure drop can occur.
