Valves are devices used to establish, control and stop flow in pipes.

The needle valve gets its name from its cone-shaped obturator with a very thin, needle-like tip. The function of the needle valve is to allow the passage of fluids, gases, and vapors, and it is typically used in small-diameter lines.

The materials from which valves are made are of different types and shapes, such as:

• Ends with male thread;
• Ends with female threads;
• Ends with male/female threads;
• Ends with nut and washer for tubes.

Needle valves are widely used in industry, and they are manufactured with appropriate configurations for each application. One example is the rotary needle valve, or for panel mounting.

There are several types of needle valves, some are specially manufactured for the petrochemical industry.

One of the most widely used valves in industry is the high-pressure needle valve. They are manufactured with rolled bar stock and ends designed for these pressures, or with stainless steel or alloy steel.

In an industrial area, valves can represent up to 15% of the entire installation, but depending on the type and size of the industry, this percentage can increase.
