The ball valve gets its name from its hollow spherical obturator, which allows fluid to pass through when fully open and aligned with the pipe. When closed, its orifice is perpendicular to the flow direction, blocking the passage.
It's the best option when you need a quick shutoff or opening, due to its agile operation. It offers excellent watertightness, even at high pressure, and has virtually negligible pressure loss. Not recommended for flow regulation services due to the spherical shape of its obturator.
They are manufactured to BS 5351 and tested to BS 6755/API 598. Construction is full or reduced port type. All valves are lever operated, gear operated valves are available on request.
