This type of valve, normally used for blocking general-purpose lines, is characterized by the spherical shape of the sealing element.
The ball valve is basically an adaptation or derivation of the plug valve.
Instead of a conical or cylindrical tap, a ball with a hole is used. This rotates between resilient seats.
It is also characterized by its speed of operation.
Only a quarter turn is required to operate this type of valve.
It offers excellent watertightness, even at high pressure and almost negligible pressure loss (when built in full bore).
The ball valve is not recommended for flow regulation services, due to the geometry of its obturator (ball).
Highlights
Quick opening and closing;
The construction features of the ball-seat assembly, as well as the materials used in this assembly, guarantee smooth operation and total sealing.
