Lap-Joint or Loose Flanges , unlike other types, are not attached to the pipe. They are loose and can slide freely over the pipe. During installation, a piece is welded to the end of the pipe. This piece, known as a lip, serves as a kind of stopper for the flange to rest on.
Used in stainless steel lines and working in conjunction with the eyelashes, they are recommended for use at low pressure.
And so that you clearly understand the advantages of using the Lap-Joint Flange , we highlight some advantages of its use:
1 – It is ideal for use in installations that need to be disassembled frequently.
2 – They have no contact with the circulating fluid and, therefore, are widely used in services that require expensive materials, such as nickel alloys and stainless steel.
3 – Because they don't come into contact with the circulating fluid, models made of inexpensive materials, such as carbon steel or iron, can be used. Only the tubes and flange need to be made of special materials.
4 – It is a possibility of reducing the cost of a pipeline.
