There are several types of flanges available for industrial use, essential parts for making connections in the formation of larger and more complex components and which, when assembled, are inserted into complete systems.

The types of flanges available are:

  • Blind Flange;
  • Neck Flange;
  • Lap-Joint Flange;
  • Flange Orifice;
  • Threaded Flange;
  • Overlapping Flange;
  • Socket Flange.

It's important to understand the details of each flange type to better understand the application of the components. Check it out!

Blind Flange

Of all the flanges available on the market, the blind flange is considered the most common. Because it lacks a central hole, it's ideal for use at the ends, especially in piping systems.

Blind flanges are used to close lines and withstand pressure and temperature variations. This type of flange allows for line inspection and future continuation.

The Blind Flange is perfect for flanged sections and is available in 150 lb, 300 lb, 600 lb, 900 lb, and 1500 lb.

Neck Flange

A neck flange is a component designed to transfer stress to the pipe it's integrated with. Therefore, neck flanges can reduce pressure at the base of the flange and are considered one of the most efficient on the market.

Visually, it's popular because of its cone-shaped neck. Other advantages of the Neck Flange include:

  • It is a strong piece that does not deform;
  • The end is chamfered;
  • Accepts butt welding;
  • Allows radiography in the line;
  • Ideal for pressure variation;
  • Ideal for temperature variation.

The Neck Flange is available in 150 lb, 300 lb, 600 lb, 900 lb, and 1500 lb.

Lap-Joint Flange

The Lap-Joint Flange, or Loose Flange, is a part specially designed for piping that requires frequent disassembly. The Lap-Joit Flange is fitted with a convenient stub-end insert. Its advantages include:

  • It is a flange that can rotate;
  • Aligning the holes is easy;
  • It is regularly used in lines containing eyelashes;
  • Does not corrode when in contact with fluid;
  • It can be made of carbon steel.

The Lap-Joint Flange is available in 150 lb, 300 lb, 600 lb, 900 lb, and 1500 lb.

Flange Orifice

Orifice flanges are widely used in industry, especially for assembling orifice plates. Orifice flanges are used to measure flow rates in pipes, both for gases and liquids. The advantages of orifice flanges include:

  • Provides additional screws to facilitate flange inspection;
  • Provides additional screws to facilitate board maintenance;
  • With additional bolts, the flanges are separated more easily;
  • It is a type of flange used in the natural gas, metallurgy, oil and heating industries.

The Orifice Flange is found in 150 lb, 300 lb, 600 lb, 900 lb and 1500 lb.

Threaded Flange

The threaded flange is ideal for systems with moderate pressure, stress, and temperatures. The threaded flange has the following advantages:

  • It is easy to assemble;
  • It is an economical device;
  • No welding is required to join the pipes;
  • Ideal flange for medium pressure;
  • Flange ideal for room temperature.

The Threaded Flange is found in 150 lb, 300 lb, 600 lb, 900 lb and 1500 lb.

Overlapping Flange

The Overlap Flange is a special piece, as it doesn't allow for direct connection to a tubular fitting. It also doesn't allow for radiography in the line. It's a type of flange that requires welding, both on the inside and outside. The advantages of the Overlap Flange are:

  • It specifically meets the demands of the oil, natural gas, energy, metallurgy, pulp and paper, shipbuilding and many other industries;
  • Perfect for low pressure applications.

Socket Flange

The Socket Flange is a versatile part, but it cannot withstand severe thermal gradients. The Socket Flange offers the following advantages:

  • Supports moderate pressure;
  • Supports moderate temperature;
  • Serves the metallurgy, natural gas, oil, heating and many other industries.

The Socket Flange is found in 150 lb, 300 lb, 600 lb, 900 lb and 1500 lb.
