Butterfly Valve

In industry, it is used especially for gas and liquids in low pressure, because its has low pressure drop, low cost and is fast acting. Consists of a ring in the same diameter as the pipe, with a disk that spins inside the ring around an axis, opening or obstructing the passing of fluids.

Many valves in the Butterfly style have an actuator mechanism to hold the valve in the desired position. When the fluid is corrosive or erosive, the body and disk may be coated with more resistant material. The lever is the most common in smaller gauges, while in larger gauges, the valve is supplied with a wheel and gearbox, and possibly, with automatic activation through a hydraulic or electric system.

Tri-Eccentric Butterfly Valve
